FUND RAISING FOR PALESTINIAN VICTIMS OF THE GAZA
WAR
The Israeli aggression against the
Palestinian in Gaza which began on December 27, 2008 has resulted in the death
of over 900 people and over 4000 have been seriously injured, mostly women and
children.
The disproportionate use of force and banned weapons have resulted in people
being severely burnt and the amputation of their limbs. The war has resulted in
a human catastrophe, breakdown of civil society and serious damage to state infrastructure.
Over 80% of the population in Gaza are dependent on food aid for subsistence.
It is obligatory of all Muslims to help the Palestinians in their time of need.
PERMIM wishes to call upon the Indian Muslim society to come forward and donate
generously to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians.
PERMIM intends to organize a function to hand over the donations of the Indian
Muslim community on a collective basis as soon as possible.

Further to our appeal letter dated 14.1.2009, we kindly request you to issue the
donation cheques as follows:

On receiving the cheques, NSTP
would issue temporary receipts. These receipts cannot be used to claim tax
exemption.
NSTP would then forward the payments to Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The
Ministry would then issue receipts which can be used to claim tax exemption.
Kindly forward the cheques written as per above directions to PERMIM. PERMIM
will be organizing a function to hand over the cheques on a collective basis on
behalf of the Indian Muslim community.

B.A.(HONS) AL-QUR'AN, UNIVERSITI AL-AZHAR,
MASTER (HONS) PSYCHOLOGY, U.K.M
PENGASAS KAEDAH JIBRIL.
The Speaker was adjudged as the Second Best Malaysian student in studying
and reciting Al-Qur'an in the year 2002 at Al-Azhar University. He received the
Award of the Best Student in the Master of Psychology at the Universiti
Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in the year 2006. He has 16 years of experience in the
field of reciting Al-Qur'an by memory.
In the year 1997/1998, he became the champion in the State of Negeri Sembilan in
reciting the whole Al-Qur'an by memory. He has vast experience in teaching
Maahad Tahfiz like the famous Maahad Ahmadi (now known as ITQAN) and Darul Quran,
JAKIM and conducting classes for reciting Al-Qur'an by memory for adults and
currently he is conducting such classes at Masjid Wilayah, Kuala Lumpur.

PERMIM hosted a dinner in honour of the visiting team from Sri Lanka headed by Honourable Mr. Noordeen Mansoor, Minister of Vanni Rehabilitation. Around 70 prominent Muslims from all walks of life had attended the gathering. The Sri Lankan delegation made a video presentation of the massacre of Muslims in the villages by Tamil tigers. The Minister also stated that with the help of the present government and various Islamic Organizations rehabilitation of the villages are being undertaken.

Cocktail party was held at Sheraton Hotel, Kuala Lumpur in honor of Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister. A discussion was held among the Muslim dignitaries. Sdr. Jamarulkhan, PERMIM President attended the function. Sdr. Jamarulkhan, PERMIM President also attended the Round Table Conference held at APDC the next day.

PERMIM hosted a dinner in honour of Senator Mustapha Abdul Hamid, Minister of Social Development, and Trinidad and Tobago. Around 50 Muslim dignitaries attended the dinner.

Conference on Empowering the Ummah” was held. It was organized by Asean Muslim Youth Secretariat & Secretariat for the Ulama Regional Collections of South East Asia. (AMSEC & SHURA), PERMIM President Sdr. Jamarulkhan, Treasurer Sdr. Abdul Razak and AJK Tuan Haji Bazeer Ahmad bin Mohamed Ibrahim attended this meeting.

PERMIM organized SPM Examination Workshop for 60 SPM pupils. All the main subjects were taught and discussed by experienced teachers. The teachers also discussed the past year questions and gave away important notes.It was officiated by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Mohamed Iqbal.The closing ceremony was officiated by Sdr. Jamarulkhan Bin Hj. Kadir AMN, PERMIM President. Certificates of Attendance were given to the pupils at the closing ceremony.

Majlis Pelancaran Gerakan Kesedaraan Kemanusian "Sejagat Qurban for Life 2004” was held . Sdr. Jamarulkhan, Sdr. Noorul Hassan, Sdr, Hj. Bazeer Ahmad and Sdr. Mubarak Ali attended the function. It was officiated by YB Brig Gen. ® Datuk Abdul Hamid Bin Hj. Zaianal Abidin, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department. YB Dato Hishamuddin, Minister of Youth and Sports also spoke in this function.
The aim of the Majlis was to call upon those wishing to offer Qurban can do so through them so that the meat can be distributed to the poor and needy Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq and Sri Lanka.

Majlis Pemberian Bantuan Hari Raya Aidil Fitri 2003 under the Chairmanship of Tuan Haji Mydin Sultan PJK, one of the Vice Presidents of PERMIM was held in Kuala Lumpur. The Majlis was officiated by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Dr. Haji Mohamed Iqbal DIMP, the Chairman of Yayasan Pelajaran Islam. PERMIM distributed provisions, clothing and cash to around 300 poor and needy Muslim families.

First Executive Council meeting after BDC (Biannual Delegates Conference) in August 2003 was held to deliberate on many matters of interest to the community.Adverse publicity in print media, request for grant from the government, Education Fund Board, resolution on Land Development were discussed.

Venue : Civic Centre, Petaling Jaya.
PERMIM organized a lecture on Islamic Religion at Civic Centre, Petaling Jaya. It was delivered by Professor Abdul Kader, Tamil Language Professor from Vaniambadi Islamic College, Tamilnadu. Tuan Hj. Jamarulkhan honored the professor by garlanding him. Prof. Abdul Kader spoke at length on the principles of Islam and on the unity of the Muslims. Around 200 people attended this function.

Land Development subcommittee under the chairmanship of VP Jasha Khan was formed to implement Permim Council's resolution on commercial development thorough self financing approach to build 55 apartments, one MPHall, 6 shop lots, 11 office lots, two story car parks on a 8 story building requiring a capital outlay of RM10M.First task was to secure Trustees support. Some Trustees were not keen to sell apartments but prefer to lease office and commercial space long term to banks in exchange for capital.

Based on advice of a Trustee, detailed Power Point presentation on proposed commercial development of Permim Land was made to senior managers of Bank Rakyat(BR) in the presence of the said Trustee seeking a credit facility of some RM10M.BR management queried on Permim's creditworthiness and ability to repay.On June 25, 2004 BR rejected Permim's proposal and soon after that one of the Trustee resigned. Land development activity was put on hold until appointment of a replacement Trustee.

PERMIM was invited by the Regional Islamic Da’wah Council of South East Asia and the Pacific (RISEAP) for the closing ceremony of International Muslimah Course 5/2004. 13 Muslimah from countries all over the world received certificates after completing their course in Kuala Lumpur. PERMIM was represented by its Asst, Secretary Sdr. Saed Muhamed Saed Maimuni and Executive Secretary Cikgu Maidin.

PERMIM was one of the non-governmental organizations including the Malaysian Trade Union Congress which endorsed YAB Dato’ Seri Ahmad Abdullah Badawi’s leadership.
PERMIM President Sdr. Hj. Jamarulkhan and AJK Sdr. Mohamed Bin Kathir Ali represented PERMIM in this hour long meeting with the Prime Minister. It was a great opportunity to PERMIM since it was singled out by P.M. and he wanted to know what the Indian Muslims to say. Our president took that opportunity and expressed our full support for his leadership and policies.
PERMIM was one among 30 Government as well NGO organizations invited to attend meetings at Wisma PKNS regarding the“Perancangan Program Khidmat Negara – Modul Khidmat Kommunity, Peringkat Cawangan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. Sdr. Maidin Abd. Rahman attended all the meetings on behalf of PERMIM.

PERMIM together with DBKL officials and Malay Hawkers Association were responsible to supervise the “Gotong Royong Program” held in Jalan Masjid India area. The National Service participants took part in cleaning the whole area as well as removing the unwanted stickers and posters etc. The participants were briefed on the history of the Masjid India, which was built by the Indian Muslim Community.

Secon Executive Council meeting was held to deliberate on many matters of interest to the community.Adverse publicity in print media, Masjid India issue, rejuvenation of Education Fund Board and Land Development status were discussed.

PERMIM spearheaded a move to protest against DBKL building of canopy structure in front of Masjid India.Masjid India Committee, Persatuan Pengguna-Pengguna Islam and KIMMA were roped in to build support against the canopy structure. The move culminated in a joint memorandum to Prime Minister YAB Abdullah Hj.Ahmad Badawi, informing him in detail what is and has happened in front of Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur and what actions need to be taken to redeem Muslims' pride and self esteem.This initiative was continued at an intense pace involving print and electronic media. Finally DBKL dismantled a certain portion of the canopy structure allowing clear view and free access to the mosque. Pressure is still continuing for complete removal of the structure in front of the mosque.

Permim participated as one of NGO in the organization of international conference on Peace in Palestine organized by JUST and Global Peace.Permim acted in role as conference workshop manager bringing volunteer workers from other sister NGOs.The international conference was participated by some 100 NGOs from al over the world.
